Book Clubs

One of the best parts of having Hand Me Down out in the world has been connecting with readers.

I sincerely hope that your reading group will consider choosing Hand Me Down. Previous book clubs have found discussions flowed easily about the variety of conversation-worthy topics including family betrayals, the way inherited traits and learned behaviors are passed through generations, the human capacity for forgiveness and what is unforgiveable, the incredible bond of sisterhood, finding unexpected sources of love, what it means to be a family, and many more.

If your group does select Hand Me Down (thank you!), I would be delighted to visit! We can talk about the real-life stories behind my semi-autobiographical novel, the craft of writing, which characters you loved and hated and why, and whatever else comes up in relation to the book. If you are within reasonable driving distance from the San Francisco Bay Area or Sacramento (if you’re not sure, please ask!), I would be happy to talk to you and your group in person.

If your book club is too far for me be able to sit with you face-to-face, perhaps we can arrange a call-in on the old telephone or a Skype chat. I’m flexible. The point is, if you want to talk to me, I’m all yours!

Please fill out the form below or email me directly at melanie.thorne@ymail.com to schedule a visit or with any questions.

Please also check out my other resources for reading groups, including a discussion guide and author Q & A.

I look forward to meeting new people and talking about books and most of all, having a good time hanging out with some of my favorite people—readers!
